Enchant is a frontend for different spell-checkers, including aspell and hunspell.
Hunspell has become dominant, used by many applications, including all of the Mozilla apps. Enchant also will use hunspell if present, which means that so to will Abiword. Which means that if you have hunspell, you won't need the aspell package. I recommend upgrading enchant to the latest version, 1.6.0, see my hacked enchant.desc: #[V] 1.4.1 [V] 1.6.0 [P] X -----5---9 153.100 [O] . $base/package/*/*/gnome2-conf.in #[D] 3788480967 enchant-1.4.1.tar.gz http://www.abisource.com/downloads/enchant/1.4.1/ [D] 0 enchant-1.6.0.tar.bz2 http://www.abisource.com/downloads/enchant/1.6.0/ I have also created enchant.conf, with just one line in it: pkginstalled hunspell && var_append confopt " " "--with-system-myspell=yes" I have also introduced hunspell into my local T2, will post about that separately.
