Rene, Just remembered, you asked about xf86-video-modesetting. No, 915resolution is not needed for xf86-video-modesetting. Actually, I'm running with the modesetting driver right now on my laptop, as with the intel xorg driver I get incredibly annoying "artifacts" and other anomalies on the screen. ...I really can't see any difference in the responsiveness, either.
