Hi,
I stated in the YT videos in detail, that after dragging the patches
along for 10 years, I found the Gentoo patches a good base too and
merged my fixes, on top of that. It should also be immediately oviously
from the original file names and patch headers.
How (with what patch sets) did you test everything from 4.0 to 4.18 on
the Octane?
I have not seen the problems you write, likely also because running the
Octane without graphics is not of interest for me, and it is also
unclear if those problems are related to random patches you used for 4.0
to 4.18.
I will continue to work on details as I have time and fun, but this will
be adding more features, such as improving Vpro on top of what is
working for me.
The only major problems I am aware of with the 4.12 set are:
- power-off not working
- stability, still locks up anywhere between a couple of hours
to a day or two. But this was always the case for me, however it got way
better (was really unstable a decade ago), and when I run the Sgi Origin
200 (I got in the meantime) it also locked up after some 6 hours. So it
is likely not a hardware issue of my two Octanes (the 2nd I only got
recently), or the Origin, as it occured on all of them.
On top of that I am more interested in re-basing to the latest Linux
kernel as well as getting this upstream (already chatted a bit with the
mips maintainer regarding this).

your patches for 4.12 seem derived from Gentoo's patches.
Anyway, we have been testing everything from 4.02 to 4.18, and there
are a lot of problems
1) problems with smp_stop and panic, the machine doesn't correctly
reset on panic()
2) problems with preemption, the kernel reports
"BUG: using smp_processor_id() in preemptible [00000000] code: swapper/0/1"
3) problems with a secondary QLA card, the kernel hangs in an infinite
loop saying
"BUG: using smp_processor_id() in preemptible [00000000] code: swapper/0/1"
4) problems with a "headless" configuration, the kernel seems to have
hardcoded checks for addresses, so if you don't have a GFX installed
the kernel structures get corrupted
5) problems at initializing the GFX if you don't have "console=g" set
in the firmware
6) ... etc
would you like to collaborate?

You know what, as your links are of such uttermost importance to you just put
them back and all over again (I actually did not ask you to remove them in the
first place, only to do it less).
I love you very much too,

dude, I understand you are on YouTube just to get money, you always
spam your shitty "give me money on Patreon to support my works,
blablabla" in every fucking quote, and this is ok! But now you are
getting on my nerves!
Promotion links are for commercial products, we are a non-profit
community, and I have NEVER put any promotion links in your channel,
this is a sneaky sentence of yours, which really shows your deep
intentions!
Your website is all-a-I-want-the-money without anything useful, and it
sucks because there is no way to have a discussion, and Youtube is not
even the place for discussing stuff!
So, I have informed people about a forum project, where we are trying
to create a mini-community dedicated to a particular kind of hacks.
There is nothing similar on the web.
And you have tried to ridicule us! Shame!
Your English sucks, it's so fucking difficult to understand because
you talk in German-English, and you are boring, and your videos are
useless because you do not offer any links, material, datasheet, code,
anything useful, and you make your videos with a so embarrassing poor
quality that the last two live-shows crashed!
Your effort is just at taking people for the piss, You clearly want
the money, and nothing else. And it's clear now!
In fact, you say "spam" to what? I have also reported a couple of
RISC-V boards, which we are not affiliated with (we are not paid for
promoting them), and the reason is clear: as above said, your videos
are rather useless when the only thing you do is blathering about a
datasheet without any content, material, and related stuff.
