At least i am not the expert to ask.
I know about ISO 9660 (aka ECMA-119) and optical drives (SCSI SPC/SBC/MMC).
My knowledge about booting is narrowly restricted to what an ISO 9660
has to offer to firmware in order to make it run the program by which the
ISO's author wants to start the boot procedure.

I hardly know what GRUB or ISOLINUX do after their start-up.
If you try to achieve your goal by GRUB, consider to ask at

Have a nice day :)
