Just a FYI since I came across these while searching for somethinng else.
It seems that the Matchbox Project has relocated to Yocto
(https://www.yoctoproject.org/software-item/matchbox/) and sources at
either (http://downloads.yoctoproject.org/releases/matchbox/) or
(http://mirrors.kernel.org/yocto/matchbox/). It's got the mb- applet
packages there that you don't seem to list too. The package releases are
mainly onne version later than listed on T2 but the latest package date
is still only 2013.
