I was just wondering if this is still necessary in T2, especially
considering most of the archivers seem to be able to handle the .gem
files without problems nowadays, and you could always just use >
tar -xf filename.gem
to unpack
and nowadays use zip to pack one up.
which is what i've been using for a while now.
