I have a 1989 Volkswagen Westphalia camper van which was almost the last
year they made them. After that it was the VW Eurovan for a few years and
then no more. Supposedly there's a new VW van in the works but I have yet to
see one!
To answer your question, Janis -- there isn't any convenient place to attach
a backstrap arrangement in the passenger seat of my van. On the other hand,
there aren't any airbags either! If I was going to weave while travelling
(which makes me ill just thinking about it -- I don't get carsick if I'm
looking outside) I'd go sit in the back seat with the table and C-clamps
instead of backstrap. Of course, DH would have to be doing the driving! In
real life, I wait until I'm at the campsite and make use of the picnic table
just like Judy does. BTW, did you know that our BC provincial campsites have
*very* thick tabletops? You need really big C-clamps!
