Sponsored by TWIST - Tablet Weavers International Studies & Techniques

Hi all,
glad to see so many Scandinavians here!

"Brickvaevning - sa in i Norden" by Sonja Berlin Englund is a very nice
book for beginners. It has detailed descriptions of how to design bands,
warping, turning the cards, weaving etc for approx. 20 bands in different
techniques - from Icelandic double weave (her interpretation of it) to
Egyptian diagonals. The book also contains a historic part (about 30 pages)
and a glossary of tablet weaving related expressions. The photos are very
good, mostly in color, among others; the band from the Hofdi church
and the reconstruction of "Knut den store"s gown, so the book should be
interesting even for advanced weavers.

Her book can be bought from most Swedish bookstores or directly from Sonja
Berlin (she now only use Berlin as her last name) . She also sells the
Swedish translation of Margarethe Lehmann-Filhes' book and a reprinted text
by Inger Lise Christie "Brikkevevde band i Norge" ("Tablet-woven bands in
Norway") from "Bygd og By 1983-84", Oslo. I do not think that I should
publish her e-mail address without her permission, but if anybody is
interested to get in touch with her, I could send you her address privately.

Sometime in March 2002 she will give a workshop in Halmstad (in the south
of Sweden.) It would be nice to see some of you there!
