You are closer than you may want to think. Just speaking for myself,
when I send this email to TabletWeaving it will go directly to the
Internet from a mail server (software) in my antique Mac clone. It
just uses a fast connection from my ISP, and the ISP does nothing.
This email goes to a mail server that does not physically exist
either. All the above should have a "sort of" added to everything. In
the "visible" world my email goes from Sweden to Canada and then to
you - quicker than a pizza delivery by orders of magnitude

My received mail was coming to my otherwise wonderful ISP, but their
mail server was dead (is dead). All the rest of their place - a real
physical place as far as I know - is functioning perfectly. So, I
could send out around them. Receiving meant changing where to forward
my email from a physically nonexistent place in central California to
a different Swedish ISP that is so cheap that Susanne and I just keep
it as a backup. So now instead of my mail coming to my high speed ISP
it goes to the alternate and still gets to me.

And you call that smoke and mirrors? Heck, I have left out
practically all the details.  ;-)}

Ron
