Sponsored by TWIST - Tablet Weavers International Studies & Techniques
Hi all, as I got not many but some and mostly positive replies on my question if a kind of FAQ for tablet weaving might make sense I just want to progress with a proposal. I first want to thank Susan Dittmar who told me that she already did some work and offered me to give her pre-work as a basis for a kind of FAQ. As Susan also told me she will be offline for three weeks (hopefully on a wonderful holiday trip?) and so I wanted to start with the proposal, that everyone can send a "Q" (question) that is "FA" (frequently asked) in our list(s). Typical questions could be: - I am new to the list - where can I get further information on tablet weaving? - What kind of books are available on tablet weaving? - What is the difference between card weaving and tablet weaving? ;-) - I am a beginner and did my first weavings. Now I want to proceed with another technique. What should I try - double-face, brocading, 3/1 twill? - What does "S" and "Z" mean and why are they used differently? - What is the right way to read the "ABCD" for the tablet holes in weaving diagrams? And so on. My concrete proposal now is that I am willing to collect such typical questions that might be included in a FAQ first for some weeks (let's say until mid of June), will then try to categorize them, present them in the list and ask for volunteers to give short answers for the tablet weaving FAQ. If you won't mind, I would also like to translate the FAQ to a German version and publish it in some German TW groups / discussion boards. Of course I will also stay in contact with Susan so we can integrate our work to one single FAQ and hope that she will help me with some technical issues. For collecting the "Q"s please use [EMAIL PROTECTED] (steinmaus.de is my personal website and with this mail address it is the easiest way for me to filter the information to special mail inbox folders). Please be aware that I will not answer to mails sent to that address as this is only meant for collecting the "Q"s. If you have any other suggestions please let me know. Coming out of this little "project" I hope we will get some fine information for all of us and espacially for new "won" tablet weavers around the world joining our groups / mailing lists.
