The three colour weave which I presume is being referred to (my PC says
the page is unobtainable) is on page 200 of paperback edition and page
267 of original edition. of TTW.
I saw it on a skirt from the Sa'dan Toraja tribe, kept in the Tropen
Museum, Amsterdam, Holland. Then worked out a way of producing it.
But that was over 20 years ago, when TTW was being prepared.

Since then a Japanese researcher has found a great deal more about TWs
from Sumatra and Sulawesi. This is only one of their specialities.

The extraordinary thing is that the weavers there use rectangular, not
square, tablets and twist them about their horizontal axis (not vertical) in
the double-faced weave. A completely different approach.. they never turn
tablets backwards.
This researcher has sent me quite amazingly beautiful old pieces to look
at.. also horn tablets and modern bands still being made in one of their
techniques.
Also a sword belt from that region needing over 500 tablets., with an
added tie-dyed fringe.

There is still a lot to be discovered!
NEVER think TTW is the last word!!

This researcher is preparing text for the TWIST Newsletter.
