I nearly always talk about it in the way that Carolyn described, because I know that's the usual way. Just once in a while I forget...
The reason I wrote that article was because I'd seen and heard (and heard from) so many unhappy beginning tablet weavers. These were people who had learned one set of nomenclature and procedures, but then were disappointed when they tried to use patterns grounded in a different set of nomenclature and procedures. My thought was to try and provide a little reference work that would help such people translate from one to another system so they'd be more satisfied with their efforts.
Ultimately, of course, I'm not trying to promote any specific nomenclature or technique or viewpoint over any of the others--although I do have some decided personal opinions! Instead, I'm just trying to save myself making the same troubleshooting explanations over and over again by relegating some of them to writing. ;>
