I'm fairly new to card weaving and to the
list, but here's my two cents' worth. I agree with Peter. I don't think a craft
has to be super popular. Here's why: I've been a knitter and crocheter for 30
years. During that time the price of yarn, in my opinion, was reasonable. I
never gave much thought to the cost of making a project, large or small. Since
the recent resurgence in knitting, the price of even basic non-designer yarns
(I'm not talking 100 percent acrylic here) has made making large projects
out of my reach cost-wise. I recently figured out the cost of making a
knitted afghan using an average grade wool yarn: $142! And I still
have to do all the work! The results of everyone jumping on the bandwagon
can be negative.
Even so, though, I think the point
someone made about the lack of uses of tablet weaving products is valid. Simply
for our own benefit, it would be nice to be able to use our products for more
things. Maybe we should all think hard about this and try to submit ideas?
