Dear Everyone,
Here's what came to my mind while looking at the recently-discussed
illumination of the Virgin. It looks as if she is just beginning to
make a continuous warp between the two upright posts held by the
angels. She holds the pack in her left hand, and is dropping the
first tablet with her right hand, which perhaps means she is
left-handed. There are only three threads visible -- so her rather
unhappy expression could mean that she has just noticed a mistake, if
she intended to have four holes threaded. Or maybe she is starting a
warp with three threads for weaving a band like one described in "The
Willful Pursuit of Complexity", and is a little worried about her
ability to weave it.
Take care,
Linda
