Hi Patty,

Both your messages arrived, no problem.

You are very welcome.

I am so glad I had all those bands for this issue. I originally thought to split them in half but it soon became obvious that I didn't have very many articles this time so I had room for them all. Your students do such amazing work, we will always be interested in seeing them in the journal.

It might be nice for you to send a little article on the student exchange, I can't believe it has been going on for 5 years.

I would also love to have something on the band that you gave me in the Bands in the Box collection. It is like the one that Nisha wove on page 8. Is that your original design? It is very different from the braids that we have featured in TWIST and I think it is high time to widen our subject.

You must be excited about your upcoming trip to Peru next year! What will you do this time?

Janis

Well Janis, my issue of TWIST finally arrived today, and I must say I can't wait to show the students this one!  I had caught wind that their weavings were in this issue, but I wasn't prepared for how many!  For these beginning tablet weavers, aged 16, it's quite an honor to be included in this publication alongside the fine tablet weavers out there--thank you also for including the credits, because some of the artists who have generously shared their work can see that they have inspired the next generation.  And many portions of these same bands were sent down to young weavers in Peru as part of an on-going weaving exchange--now in its 5th year.

Thank you so much for honoring their efforts!
Patty Townsend
