In an article in the Spring issue of the TWIST journal, I discussed a small,
metal tablet that had four holes. Although it could have been used for TW,
I suggested that it was more probably an amulet.

I would like to add one further, and more probable, use for these small,
metal tablets: mounts on belts, horse trappings, etc. In early-period
archaeological digs (specifically Merovingian and Anglo-Saxon, if my memory
serves me
well), small, metal tablets with holes in the four corners are found with
rivets in them, indicating that they were attached to something else at one
stage.
