Ok,

I found a copy of that jar inside src/main/webapp/web-inf/lib

I know I need a dope slap. (it never dawned on me that I had this setup this
way because I have alot of crap inside that dir) Now I am alarmed/confused.

Should this dir be empty ? Should I let the pom.xml dependencies populate
the web-inf/lib dir during building the war?

There has been so much stuff on the web saying... copy this ... copy that...

There has to be a general best practice for this. And I would have to
guess... with maven... populating the web-inf/lib dir is a no no.

Can you confirm?

Thanks for your attention.
