Tagging geometry when you can have the geometry as geometric
entities? From a usability perspective that's bad, it's mixing totally
different mental models. And it's harder to survey/estimate lengths
both on the ground and from the aerials (where available), than
to place a node and split.
Decent point. But I point out that the length of a lane does not equal
the storage space. There may be space before the dashed lines begin that
can be used to wait in, which acts like a lane but is not quite one.
