I missed the point that the miniroundabout would be drawn as a circle (area). Then why talking about tagging radius/diameter when you have the information in the geometry ? I think it is micromapping like drawing normal highways with rectangles instead of lines. It's experimental and not very popular. They should use a new set of tags for that and keep the single node for the compatibility.
