Just to be precise, this "choise between track/path based on width" only works 
in one direction: something that is narrower than a two tracked vehicle, is too 
narrow to be a track, so it must be a path, but not the other way round. Most 
things tagged for example as  highway=path + bicycle=designated are much wider. 
Or even without any *=designated tag.
