some wallets (on the counter) and belts (next to the counter).

Shops like this are fairly common in France and Luxembourg, and are
referred to as 'maroquinerie'. Technically the word only refers to
leather products, but the shops normally sell also travel bags made
out of different fabrics.

Does this type of shop exist outside of the French-speaking countries?
And do other countries have a specific term for it?

Yes, most "leather shops" in the USA sell a variety of leather products, and often luggage, not all of which will be leather.
