Anecdotally, my first (Saturday) job was behind the counter of a
counter-service restaurant that served game pie, smoked salmon, and
the like, to discerning guests, in a high-end department store.

That was shortly after I ate my first burger, in a "Wimpy"
establishment that had table service.
