Yep, the broader the key the better .. you never know what things will
crop up in the future.
Another issue regarding canoe routes which needs to be addressed at
some point in the future is that there is, to my knowledge, no way to
tag the waterway portions of a canoe trail or route.
I'd think that canoe routes should be done similar to bicycle routes...
maybe mountain bike as they have some system for the difficulty of the
route..
There should be an OSM wiki page on it.
