actually it is not clear what exactly that node stands for, the wiki
currently says: "[node] Place it as close to the centre of the main
crater/caldera/vent as you can."
(none of this in the proposal btw.). I still believe that "volcano" is the
name for the whole geologic structure, and an area is not wrong.

The original proposal dates back to 2007, please be aware that by that time
a lot of objects were mapped as nodes which now are mapped as areas.
