TL;DR: make parking_position=key to go with aeroway=parking_position. Short discussion from -carto about rendering and suggestion for subkey.
https://github.com/gravitystorm/openstreetmap-carto/issues/1610 ~~~~ While mapping Narita airport, i found a lot of ramp parking spots and cargo plane parking spots labeled as gates. After some misunderstanding of the usage of aeroway=gate key - I realized that it is important to have the gate tag be prominent, but also that large sections of mapped airports would have no labels whatsoever at their associated cargo centers. So to allow the rendering of some of these "gateless" spots, like cargo positions or spots at very small airports can be differentiated and therefore rendered similar to gates, but without causing confusion or double labeling that would happen if all aeroway=parking_position tags were rendered. It can also be used to differentiate associated means of access (skyway) so the can be blacklisted for rendering if need be. Concerns were also raised about the necessity for rendering - if the renderings do not conflict with skyway or other passenger gates, the impact/ confusion should be minimal. Any thoughts?
