My present searching ability on pipermail is poor!
taginfo gives:
recreation_ground=showground 4 off (using landuse=recreation_ground too, as per
the Australian talk group)
amenity=showground 4 off
landuse=showground 2 off
leisure=showground 2 off
There are 23 pages of 12 entries (276 total),
Most of these are names ... so I'd say over 150 individual showgrounds named
within OSM currently but only 10 with some kind of tag.
Anyone else?

These are places where 'shows' (displays) are held, usually agricultural
(sheep, cows, beef, produce).
Would the landuse key be appropriate?
landuse=showground ?
Some do get used for sport too, but that leaves out the showground aspect
and the sport pitch is usually only part of the area.
Where both exist together they can be dual tagged to have all the
information.
