Please, write it down. As we see the topic is complex and it's safer to
not "just fix it" in a hurry.
I also have another problem, while we're talking about railway stations.
How should we tag station building which is no longer used this way -
for example abandoned or used as a cafe (real life example:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/409106862 )? We have it solved for
churches via amenity=place_of_worship tag and this allows us to render
them differently, but for station buildings they would be all rendered
as major buildings (once I get through technical difficulties):
