Can I map a traffic island if there is only painted on the road? > You've found one way of mapping a traffic island. But this is OSM, and we have multiple, conflicting ways of doing things. :) Take a look at https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Proposed_features/Street_area#traffic_island which is unclear but a sentence later on the page notes that the example traffic island is additionally tagged with pattern=hatched. It's a proposal, and it's been around for seven years, and there have been only 7302 uses of traffic_island. But it's there. Going back to traffic_calming=island, it cites a Wikipedia page which states: "A traffic island is a solid or painted object in a road that channels traffic." So it's possible the author of that page intended to include the painted type but chose words poorly. If the concensus here is that it should include painted islands then change "structure" in the wiki to "object" or "feature." -- Paul
