Which would be rather amusing, as petrol/diesel vehicles have an engine, not a motor (so are really enginecars) whilst electric vehicles have a motor, not an engine (so really are motorcars). Non-technical usage doesn't make the distinction, so both are motorcars. But maybe that's a reason that "car" was chosen rather than "motorcar." -- Paul
