What would be the benefit of using type=route + route=circuit instead of type=circuit?
Would you be adding this route to ordinary highway=primary/secondary/tertiary ways which happen to be used as a race circuit once a year, e.g. for F1 races? Or is this meant to be a way to make a single relation for all of the ways which comprise a highway=raceway circuit? Do you have some examples of existing objects which you would want to re-tag? – Joseph Eisenberg On Tue, Jun 16, 2020 at 8:00 AM Richard Welty <[email protected]> wrote: > there is a long stalled proposal for a relation type of circuit for > handling motor racing tracks. i suspect it will never be approved, > the last time i brought it up there was a general lack of response. > > but it seems to me that a new relation type is not necessary anyway. > probably adding a new subtype to route relations would be more than > sufficent: > > type=route > route=raceway > > this would more than suit my requirements and i have no problem with > going through and changing all the circuit relations i've done in > OSM to use this tagging scheme. there are some subtags from the circuit > proposal that would be useful to carry over for things like start and > finish lines. > > thoughts? > > richard > -- > [email protected] > Averill Park Networking - GIS & IT Consulting > OpenStreetMap - PostgreSQL - Linux > Java - Web Applications - Search > > _______________________________________________ > Tagging mailing list > [email protected] > https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/tagging >
