Thanks for all your input - it's been very useful.
So now I've got usState-test.jsp working I thought I'd try a slightly more
challenging example - number-test.jsp. Apart from some srtring concatenation
the major difference lies in the fact that this tag has an initial value (in
this case 20.3). Below is a section of the log file from Nuance

Now it seems that Nuance can't handle $='initial' as you have outlined before.
Where abouts is this being set so I make appropriate changes?
