The i18n taglib is still valid for JSP 1.1 environments by the way. JSTL is 1.2 only and 1.1 is still considered to be the minimum that the Taglib project needs to support.
As to using it, I hope to find time to play with it but haven't yet. Sorry. It's quite likely you'll get more of a reply once people are awake again.
