Thanks for pointing that out. I should have been more 
clearly stating what I meant. You are right that I want
to support the JSTL EL in my library.

Do you know approx. know when it was discussed?!? And also
is someone creating a FAQ / HOWTO? If not I think I'll want
to start it ;)
