Drat. That sounds like it was reading a truncated file, probably
zero-length. Can you figure out which file it was working on at that
time and, hm, maybe move it out of the way?

I guess I should just change the catalog-shares tool to catch exceptions,
announce something (including the filename) to stderr, and continue onwards.
I'll let you know when I've pushed that change.
