Folks: Whoo-hoo! You can, after all, get sponsored by Google to hack on Tahoe this summer! Thanks to the Python Software Foundation a small number of lucky students might get a Google sponsorship for a project this summer.
However, you must act now! Here's what you do: 1. Examine http://allmydata.org/trac/tahoe/wiki/GSoCIdeas and http://wiki.python.org/moin/SummerOfCode/2009 and choose which project or projects seem the most interesting to you. 2. Send e-mail to the Tahoe Mentors listed at the bottom of http://allmydata.org/trac/tahoe/wiki/GSoCIdeas saying that you are a student interested in summer of code. (Just e-mail all five of us with Cc:.) 3. Register yourself on the Google Summer of Code site and submit an application: http://socghop.appspot.com/document/show/program/google/gsoc2009/faqs#student_apply It is important to note that your application has to be submitted by Friday, March 3, 2009, 12 noon PDT / 19:00 UTC, which is about 45 hours from when I write this. However, your application can be updated after that point (until April 15), so what you need to do right away for Step 3 is mostly just state your name, which project you want to hack on, and the fact that Python Software Foundation is the organization. Get cracking!
