Thank you for the report and for subsequently opening http://allmydata.org/trac/pycryptopp/ticket/27 . The issue is that you had no C++ compiler installed. Hopefully pycryptopp can catch this error and emit a clearer error message for the user, like "Error: no C++ compile".
Another approach that could help is if we built binary eggs of pycryptopp for Linux. Then it would not attempt to build it from source, and then it would not need a C++ Compiler.
