I'm not sure "This is how unix has always done it." is a sufficient
response to the criticism of "Users are confused by it.". :-)
Also, unix traditionally disallows hardlinks to directories (which Tahoe-
LAFS doesn't), and also unix users traditionally abjure hardlinks and
regard them as mysterious and as trouble waiting to happen.
