Just so y'all know, the Test Grid (which is linked to from the front page of http://tahoe-lafs.org ) is full. I just tried to upload a 1.8 MB PDF to it, and got this error message:
shares could be placed on only 4 server(s) such that any 3 of them have enough shares to recover the file, but we were asked to place shares on at least 5 such servers. (placed all 10 shares, want to place shares on at least 5 servers such that any 3 of them have enough shares to recover the file, sent 14 queries to 10 peers, 8 queries placed some shares, 6 placed none (of which 5 placed none due to the server being full and 1 placed none due to an error By the way, this is an example of the "servers of happiness" feature doing its job. Formerly the upload would have silently succeeded while leaving my PDF spread across only four server, but since my servers-of-happiness setting is 5 then this was a loud error which alerted me to the fact that my PDF can not have the level of robustness that I wanted. I wouldn't expect the Test Grid to become un-full any time soon. The storage servers have garbage collection turned off by default, so only if some of the operators of test grid servers deliberately turn expiration on, as described in http://tahoe-lafs.org/trac/tahoe-lafs/browser/trunk/docs/garbage-collection.rst . (And then we would have to wait for at least 31 days to pass.)
