It's the always on router/firewall/dhcp/dns/etc., plugged into the ISP
and then providing the house LAN. The box itself, with a 40G IDE 2.5"
drive inside, only pulls about 0.5A at 12V, and I have it on a group of
lead-acid batteries. I also have a 2T drive plugged in, and that has a
tahoe server on a personal grid (which isn't really 'used' yet).

The net5501 is a 500 MHz i586-type cpu with 512MB RAM, so it isn't
really that tiny, but it's small compared to desktop boxes (and has no
video at all - just serial console).

For a tahoe node, it seems good - but it's overpowered and more
expensive than a sheevaplug with a disk (but net5501 has 4 ethernets).
But it's easier for me to deal with.
