I've been thinking about this a bit, one would need to define 'small'. My personal definition of a small grid of tahoe nodes would be 4 nodes, and in a case like that 3-of-4 wouldn't sound too crazy at first, then I realised that doing 2-of-4 made more sense for me. At 2-of-4 I'm no worse off than a replicated GPFS/GlusterFS setup across 4 machines. It just means that I need to be more rigorous with repairing and monitoring my small system. Perhaps it might be interesting and useful to find out (by doing a small survey) to see what sort of sized grids are out there?
