I don't get it as it seems you are contradicting yourself here: do you
plan to 1. wait for Vidalia to exit; or 2. add a long enough sleep to
leave Vidalia enough time (on relevant configurations) to connect to
X before its auth is denied?

In any case, hint: restart-vidalia is currently run in a blocking way
from a NM dispatcher hook. This probably has to change once the script
needs more time to do its job.
