I don't know if both initiatives are related but we have a ticket about that since yesterday: https://labs.riseup.net/code/issues/7889 Right now in Debian testing you need syslinux-utils as well. So I'd rather be able to say "starting from Debian Jessie and Ubuntu XXX".
