IRC Channel #tails Gateway Report From: Mar. 15, 2014 To: Mar. 21, 2014
*** Documentation and Website: User requested support/documentation on how to setup a scanner Users still are not getting the message/information that Wget is included in Tails and *is Torified* and can be used to download Tails as opposed to using TorBrowser to download the Tails iso. Using Wget seems to fix the many reports of a *bad signature* when verifying the iso (due to a truncated iso file) when using the browser DL method. ==> maybe this should be stressed more on the website or download page, that wget is an option to DL Tails isos. *** Call for testing: << no comments >> *** Issues: 1 report of 0.23 still raising a notification to upgrade after the upgrade was performed 1 report, user had a USB HDD and a USB stick plugged in at the same time when he installed Tails and the Tails installer installed Tails onto *both* devices, the user lost his backup drive with all his data. User said the HDD device did not show up in the Installer dropdown list, so he thought it was ok. 1 User bought a new computer to use specifically for Tails, said he read the website before buying, computer didn't work with Tails user was pretty mad, said the UEFI/Windows 8 information about not booting Tails was not displayed well enough on the website or known issues page. *** Known Issues: 1 report that 0.23 didn't wipe memory on shutdown on a users machine (sorry, no details) *** Features: << no comments >> *** Potential FAQ questions: << no comments >> *** Miscellaneous: There have been reports of people using a program called Rufus http://rufus.akeo.ie to create a bootable USB (the manual method) it succeeds where UUI (Universal USB Installer) fails and just leaves a black screen with blinking cursor at boot Alot of praise and thanks for the 0.23 release, especially for the implementation of macchanger by default There was a lot of interest in MAT (metadata anonymization toolkit) this week :) --Cheers! _______________________________________________ tails-support mailing list [email protected] https://mailman.boum.org/listinfo/tails-support To unsubscribe from this list, send an empty email to [email protected].
