Dear Vox, dear Mercedes508, Thank you very much for the answers! /dev/sdc/ was indeed the correct advice, I was unaware I have to delete all partitions from the drive first.
The 'isohybrid' might have also played its part, I'm actually a little confused by it, but it doesn't matter now. It's working well on my Edge now (the T60 probably has unrelated issues).
