I've seen this kind of problems for years, when connecting to OpenWRT's dropbear SSH server. It can be workaround'd by opting-in for a weaker cipher e.g. thanks to "ssh -o Cipher ...", on a per-server basis. Of course, you can made this persistent in your ~/.ssh/config.
