Hi, I would like to set up persistence on my tails usb installation. I try with last stable version of tails and also with the beta one.
When I run the persistence setup, it asks me for the password, then it format the volume and the setup exit with any message; it doesn't show me the menu where I can choose what I want in persistence. It looks like reload the boot menu with persistence option and if I activate it and put the password the password is not accepted and give me the error of wrong password. if I restart the system, then it accept the password. After restart I try to run again the setup but it gives me the error: "persistence volume is not writable. Maybe it was mounted in read-only?" but I have not flagged the readonly option and in mount i have the "rw" option. (by the way click on ok on this message not works, I have to click on "x" in stable tails distro or press "esc" on last beta ) If I open the terminal and (as root) I chmod 0777 /live/persistence/TailsData_unlocked and then restart the setup it show me the options; after I checked all, it create and populate the file persistence.conf. after that I do chmod 0600 /live/persistence/TailsData_unlocked. When I restart the system, put the password etc the persistence volume is loaded but the configuration is disabled and the file persistence (and additional software) have "_disabled" at the end of name. is three weeks that I'm working on it but I can't solve. Tests done in last stable and also in beta. I created the usb with tails installer from DVD My Machine is an old IBMR40 (but I have same error also in other hardware where i tested it) I use the Italian language. Sorry for my english :-) ITALIAN VERSION: Ciao, sto cercando di configurare la persistenza su tails usb creata dal tails installer via dvd. Ho provato sia con l'ultima release stabile che con quella in beta. Quando lancio il setup per creare il volume persistente, mi chiede la password e dopo averla inserita procede con la formattazione ma poi si chiude senza darmi nessun messaggio e senza propormi il menu dove scelgo quali software voglio che vadano sul volume persistente; quindi mi riporta sul menu iniziale, dove ora ho anche l'opzione per attivare la persistenza. Se scelgo "si" e metto la password non me la accetta. Solo se riavvio me la accetta. Dopo il riavvio, e dopo aver messo la password per la persistenza (senza spuntare read only), quindi la password di amministratore, se provo a rilanciare il setup mi dice che il volume non è scrivibile e che forse l'ho montato in sola lettura, ma io non ho spuntato sola lettura e se eseguo il comando mount è specificata l'opzione "rw". (tra l'altro se clicco ok il messaggio di errore non si chiude si chiude solo se clicco sulla x nella versione di tails stabile e se premo esc nella beta) Ho quindi provato ad aprire un terminale e come root a cambiare i permessi in 0777 nella cartella /live/persistence/TailsData_unlocked e a rilanciare il setup, così facendo mi si propone il menu dei software che voglio nella persistenza (ho provato anche altre diverse configurazioni di permessi ma solo con questa mi fa vedere il menu dei software che voglio nella persistenza). Quindi ho spuntato tutto ed ho notato che mi ha creato e popolato il file persistence.conf. Ho quindi reimpostato il permessi a 0600 e riavviato, ma al riavvio, dopo aver messo la password per il volume persistente, quella di amministratore etc, mi carica il volume (lo trovo montato in /live/persistence/TailsData_unlocked), ma non mi salva le configurazioni e mi rinomina il file aggiungendo in fondo al nome _disabled. Il volume funziona perchè nei tanti test che ho fatto ho provato a creare dei files dentro la cartella e i files creati li ritrovo dopo il riavvio. sono tre settimane che ci sto lavorando ma non ne esco vivo. Ho fatto i tests sia nella versione stable che nella beta il mio portatile è un ibmr40 ma ho provato anche in diversi altri hardware uso come linguaggio l'italiano Scusate per il mio inglese :-)
