Hi,
I've just checked and it seems that both Retina, 13-inch, 2013 and
late-2013 come with Thunderbolt2 ports. (Is this what you've
refered as firewire?)
The standard apple Thunderbolt-to-ethernet adapter (MD463ZM) does work
(tested on 15-inch, late 2013) but _must_ be plugged before the boot
sequence.
This should be the easiest way to get connected to then fetch
whatever's needed to get the wifi to work.
