Today, I saw an article at ArsTechnica.com that reminded me of the subject issue, and it got me wondering if a Windows driver update to the USB firmware might be the cause of the issue on the affected computers.
If the users typically have a Windows computer that they insert the Tails USB into that is freezing at that point - the title of the article about "bricking USB" sounded very similar to this issue.
The article is entitled: Windows Update drivers bricking USB serial chips beloved of hardware hackers at URL:
