The medium was `dd`'d from a Mac, per: https://tails.boum.org/doc/first_steps/installation/manual/mac/index.en.html The change I needed to make comes from Reddit, per: https://www.reddit.com/r/tails/comments/2mn0yx/acer_c720_chromebook_fails_to_boot_beyond_tails/ SOLUTION: Okay, so I found a solution that is 100% working for me.
