For your information, by making the entire ~/.gconf/ persistent, you would be giving yourself the responsibility of applying to your own forked copy any improvement we ever do in the GConf settings shipped in Tails. You won't get bugfixes and such automatically, and over time your system may diverge too much from a pristine Tails to be anything we can realistically support.
